Poles are available in the
following lengths: 1.8, 2.1, 2.4, 3.0, 3.6, 4.2, 4.8 ,5.4, 6.0, with
additional lengths up to 12.0 meters long. Posts and poles are one
and the same, it matters only which school you went to! All lengths
are subject to availability. *You will be charged for the length that
you receive*
Peeled posts
(or poles) are available in several different lengths and diameters.
As poles are simply young trees with the bark peeled off them (hence
the term “peeled”), the diameters are not of a specific
size. Instead, we refer to the diameters by way of a size range. The
nominated size range always applies to the small end diameter (or
S.E.D) of the pole, or in other words, the minimum diameter that the
pole will be. For example: A pole that has a nominated diameter of
100-125mm, will measure between 100mm and 125mm diameter at its smallest
end. (Or between 4 and 5 inches in the imperial measure).
All poles at H.Waterhouse and Son are
treated to a minimum treatment level of H4 (refer to technical information
page of this website for more information on treatment levels), which
is suitable for most in ground applications. Typical applications
for H4 treated poles are: Rural fencing, park post and rail sets,
horse ménages, vineyards, shed construction, power poles, temporary
power poles, and guide posts. If you have an application that may
be an intermittent damp area, or even a jetty or marine application,
please discuss further treatment levels with our sales staff.

Perfectly
rounded poles (other wise referred to as lathed posts) are
also available. As their name suggests, they are perfectly cylindrical,
or consistent in diameter from one end to the other. Perfect round
poles are also treated to H4 for in ground use. Perfect round poles
are generally used in aesthetically sensitive areas, where consistency
and appearance matter.
Domed bollards
are produced from perfectly rounded poles, so they too are consistent
in diameter from one end to the other. As the name suggests, domed
bollards have the tops rounded over in the shape of a dome. They are
treated to H4 for ground contact applications and are commonly used
as a form of marker post, or to define boundaries in car parks, parks
and gardens, driveways, jetties, piers, and as a sacrificial marker
to prevent damage to property. Lengths available are 1.2, 1.5, 1.8,
2.4 meter lengths. Diameters available are 100mm, 125mm, 150mm and
200mm.
